Who is this for?

This programme is for people with ongoing pain in their joints and muscles

What is it?

This free programme consists of 4 sessions. You will be a member of a small group. You can speak as much or as little as you like. Each session lasts an hour. We aim to help you understand your pain problem better, and to give you the skills you need to allow you to be more active and better control your pain.

What will I have to do?

You need to attend all 4 sessions, and be willing to join in and try out some new ideas. You will be asked to fill in some questionnaires. These help us to be sure that the programme is effective. You can opt out of this if you wish.

Who leads the programme?

The programme is led by an experienced Senior Physiotherapist, a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner may also be involved.

How do I get on to the programme?

If you are seeing an ECCH Physiotherapist, they will refer you. Alternatively, your GP can refer you by writing to the local ECCH Physiotherapy Department.

Please ask them to make it clear that they would like you to attend the Positive Pain Management Course.

What happens next?

Once we receive your referral, you will be added to the waiting list and contacted when the next space becomes available. If the referral comes from your GP, we may call you beforehand to make sure that the course is your best option. Our number may show as “private” or “unlisted”. If the course does not seem appropriate, we will let your GP know. We will not call you if it is already clear that this course will be beneficial to you.
